Question: I hired the wrong person; what should I do now?

02:00 Jeff: When evaluating an employee, it comes down to two things:

    1. Are they a value fit?

    2. Is there a capacity gap?

When you are starting to hire people, if you don’t have a process about whether or not they are a value fit, then you’ll end up with people in the organization that doesn’t really need to be there.

    • Can they do what I want them to do?
    • Do they have the potential to do what I want them to do?

    Things to ask yourself

    • How well have you given instructions?
    • How well-documented are your processes?

07:00 Jeff, shares story about how even accountants, with the seemingly most straightforward profession when it comes to tasks and procedures, can even have this problem.

This one was fun. Thank you to whoever asked this question because it really helped us look at this issue in many dimensions. If you want to make sure you are hiring the right people watch this video and see if you have these practices.
