Personality Questionnaires
Posted by Heather on January 18, 2023 at 12:08 pmAl from ERH asked me what personality questionnaires we recommend for hiring employees and understanding the personalities of current employees. We use 2 types of personality assessments at SGM; DISC and BANK. Do any of you use these or others? And why did you choose the tool you use?

I am a big fan of the Myers-Briggs as well. You can check it out for free at http://www.16personalities.com
Let me know what you think and what your personality is.

On 16 Personalities, I’m an Entrepreneur.
On DISC, I’m a “D”.
On the Bird’s DISC, I’m a Parrot and an Eagle.

Is there really a bird/animal disc? I must know where this resides. I thought I had done all the tests.

Yeah, I like Myers Briggs too. I am an INTP (Introver, Intutive, Thinker, Perciever). But honestly I think they all work if they give you some insight into how other people think and how to work with them. I think the two biggest mistakes are:
1. using too many, it gets confusing.
2. thinking that they are linked to competency.
Personality types are really just thinking styles and they don’t tell you how well a person can do a job.

I agree with the mistakes you pointed out. Especially competence, people can have any of the results and be great at what they do. The difference will lie in how they do what they do.
